Besides the fact that it’s gorgeous, we picked the Norwood Hall Hotel as it’s situated at the top of Garthdee Road – where I was brought up.
The mansion was built in 1887 for the Ogston family and stands on the site of the long-gone 15th Century Pitfodels Castle on the bank of the River Dee, and is set within seven acres of private woodland.

Spooky fact: The hotel is allegedly haunted by three ghosts. They are thought to be the spirits of James Ogston, his wife and his mistress.
For those of you planning to stay at the venue who are of a nervous disposition, you would do well to stay clear of Room 1 – it’s said to be haunted, as is the main staircase and dining room!
